Of the 5,135 active cases reported last Monday, more than four-fifths – exactly 81 percent – involved unvaccinated Viennese.
Adding the six percent who became infected after the first vaccine dose, 87 percent of all active cases were not fully immunized.
82 percent of active Viennese Corona cases unvaccinated
Particularly noteworthy is the comparison of seven-day incidence (the infections in the past seven days per 100,000 population, note) by vaccination status. While in Vienna the incidence among those fully immunized in the previous week (Aug. 23-30) was 45.1, it climbed to 281.7 among those not fully immunized.
49 percent of Corona-infected people in Vienna younger than 30 years old
Nearly half – 49 percent to be exact – of the current active cases in the federal capital involve people younger than 30. According to figures from the City of Vienna, exactly a quarter of all those affected are between 20 and 29 years old, 17 percent are between ten and 19, and as many as seven percent are younger than ten. Nineteen percent are in their thirties, 15 percent in their forties, and ten percent are between 50 and 59.
In contrast, there are hardly any active cases among seniors. Four percent of active cases appear in the 60 to 69 age group, and one percent each in the 70 to 79 and 80 to 89 age groups.
